Atria's Restaurant and Tavern - Our Tradition
Making History

We believe the only way to make history is to focus on the future. Atria’s Restaurant & Tavern is not your average place to eat – it is a gathering place to share good times and enjoy great food.

We are planning on moving into more neighborhoods so that we can provide the same quality food and outstanding service that has made us famous.

Remembering the Past
Joe Atria came to America with a dream to run his own business and provide for his family. The dream began to take shape when he bought a piece of property in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and started his own grocery store on the site of the flagship Atria’s. In the 1930’s, Joe expanded the business to include a barber shop and dry cleaning store, becoming an integral part of the Mt. Lebanon community.

In 1933, with the end of prohibition, Joe saw a golden opportunity and transformed the neighborhood store into a beer garden that sold six packs to go. When a liquor license became available, the store changed once again, only this time into a full-scale neighborhood bar serving food.

Since the late 1930’s, Atria’s has been the local watering hole for people from all walks of life. It became a place to unwind after a hard day's work. No matter if you were a doctor, an executive or a steelworker, you were at home and among friends when you walked through the door.

Atria’s became a Mt. Lebanon landmark.

Anticipating the Future
Joe Atria left his legacy in the hands of his family, knowing that they would carry on the Atria's tradition. This they did until early 1998. At that time, it was sold to Pat McDonnell and Frank Puskarich, two Pittsburghers and local restaurateurs. Along with their partners, they were moved by the tradition that was Atria’s and formulated their own dream – to mix the best of the old with the best of the new and start a new Atria's tradition for the 21st century.

In 2001, two new Atria’s were introduced to local Pittsburgh neighborhoods. One is located north of Pittsburgh in the community of Wexford, and the other location is right inside PNC Park – the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Both of the new locations embrace the same traditions that made the original Atria’s so successful: quality food, exceptional service and a friendly atmosphere.

To this day, each of our locations continues to be the place to gather and meet with friends and family. As we continue to grow and move into new neighborhoods, we will still be the local place to meet your family for dinner, catch up with old friends over drinks or share a brownie sundae with your son or daughter.

During our growth, we look forward to seeing many familiar faces and meeting new neighbors, too!
